James Knoer, MD, FACOG

Named by his patients as “Compassionate Doctor” and “Patient’s Choice”, Dr. Knoer joined Peachtree Women’s Specialists in 2007. He grew up in Pittsburgh, Pa., and came to Atlanta to attend Emory University, where he earned both a BS degree in Biology and a BA degree in Political Science. He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his residency at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, where he served as Chief Resident and won the CREOG award (Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology) from the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Following his residency, Dr. Knoer spent a year practicing medicine in Nepal and Kenya.

Returning to the U.S., Dr. Knoer worked in private practice in Philadelphia, then spent a year at Atlanta’s DeKalb Medical Center before joining Peachtree Women’s Specialists. He specialized in high-risk obstetrics. Dr. Knoer is known for his excellent minimally invasive surgical skills, compassionate bedside manner and success at solving the most challenging gynecologic and obstetric problems.

A familiar sight in Midtown and Buckhead as he commutes to and from work on his bicycle, Dr. Knoer enjoys hiking and camping. He and his wife, Kristan Adams, have three children.
